The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal recent reporting of the State Minister of Defense, Bello Matawalle to the National Security Adviser, has been described as a complete waste of time and a diversionary tactic from the successes recorded in the fight against banditry in the North.
This is contained in a statement by a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress in Kano, Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso and issued to newsmen on Wednesday.

Kwankwaso who was a former Commissioner for Rural Development under the administration of Abdullahi Ganduje, reminded the Zamfara Governor that the Defence Minister’s records and indeed background are with the Nigeria Security and if he has any fault, he wouldn’t have been appointed Minister in the first place.
“I assume that every Nigerian that was appointed in a strong position of a Minister could not have enjoyed that privilege if his character and records were questionable. Therefore, what the Zamfara Governor did was uncalled for, childish and an attempt to take away the senses of Nigerians from successes achieved in the fights against criminals”.
He explained that rather than reporting the Defence Minister to the NSA, Zamfara Governor should cooperate at this critical period with the Minister and indeed the Federal Government of President Bola Tinubu to tackle the menace of banditry in his state and the entire Northern Nigeria.
“Northern region today doesn’t politicize its problems. Leaders like the Zamfara State Governor, should try as much as possible to shun these bad tendencies, and cooperate with the Federal Government and indeed the Defence Ministers to solve a mirage of problems bedeviling their areas”, he said.

He added, “Just because you are a PDP Governor does not remove you from being a Nigerian who should be patriotic enough to support the efforts achieved so far by the Government of President Tinubu in the fight against bandits and other criminal elements”.
“We viewed your actions as nothing but a diversionary tactics to take away the minds and senses of the people of the North from the victory achieved so far, and we are appealing to you to do away with that attitude and align yourself with the Defence Minister and the Government for a better North and Nigeria in general.”
