The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano Sector Command has confirmed the death of three persons following a road traffic accident along Zaria–Kano road in the early hours of Monday.
The Sector Public Education Officer/ Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday night.

“Th Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano Sector Command regrets to announce a fatal road traffic crash that claimed the lives of three persons in the early hours of Monday, 9th March 2026.
“The unfortunate crash occurred at about 0545 hours along the Zaria–Kano Road (ZAR–KAN), after the Imawa U-Turn,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the report of the incident was received by the Corps at 0555 hours, and the rescue team arrived at the crash scene at 0600 hours, recording a swift response time of five minutes.
It said preliminary investigation revealed that the crash involved one commercial vehicle, a DAF XF truck with registration number FKA603XA adding that the incident was a lone crash caused by loss of control by the truck driver which resulted in a collision with a parked trailer along the dual carriage expressway.

“A total of three adult male occupants were involved in the crash. Sadly, all three victims lost their lives as a result of the impact,” the statement added.
He said the rescue operatives promptly evacuated the victims and deposited the corpses at Kura General Hospital.
The Sector Commander, FRSC Kano Sector Command, CC Idris Mohammed Lawal, expressed deep sadness over the tragic loss of lives and warned drivers, particularly operators of heavy-duty trucks, to always exercise caution while driving.
He emphasized the need for drivers to maintain safe speed, ensure proper vehicle control, and avoid fatigue, especially during early morning hours.

The Sector Commander also advised motorists to avoid indiscriminate parking on highways, as such actions pose serious dangers to other road users.
The Command sympathizes with the families of the deceased and urges all road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent avoidable tragedies on the nation’s highways.
