Community leaders in Salanta quarters Bayero University Road in Kano have described as an unverified statement made by Kano state Governor Abba Yusuf that more than seventy percent of the land that falls within Kano Polytechnic was owned by the Wife of the former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and her children.
Recall that Gov. Yusuf had on Sunday claimed that more than seventy percent of land in question are owned by Ganduje’s wife, Prof. Hafsat Ganduje and her children.

Speaking to newsmen on behalf of the affected community on Monday, the Salanta Community leader, Alhaji Ayuba Sani describes the Governor’s claim as false saying most of the owners of the land in the area belong to the community and are all having their Certificate of Occupancy and building permit from Kano state Urban Planning and Development Authority. (KNUPDA).
He said the affected people whose houses were earmarked for demolition by the government, were ready to bring out their documents for the whole world to see in order to prove their claim.

“We occupy the land since time immemorial the place was not habitable, we bought it from the allottees those who were allocated the land by the governor directly. We know ourselves and if the governor wants to see us we are ready to see him and prove our case.”
He said that going by the dramatic turn of events some few days ago our houses were earmarked for demolition by the state government and we came out massively to resist the threat.
On the claim that the government made a vow to publish the names of the people that owned the lands, the public said ” this is what we want to hear. We will be very happy to hear that or see the names of those people in print . And surprisingly its the governor’s Wife and her Children”

Malam Ayuba decried the attitude of the youths who were jumping the gun by descending on our properties. They came with their working tools to remove iron rods and other building materials to go and sold them out cheaply to their masters across Kano markets .
He used the opportunity to inform the government that they are well cultured human beings with good manners . We are law abiding and that is why we followed due procedures to acquire the lands in question. We are ready to abide by any position of the government that sounded rationally well.
