The North-Eastern University (NEU), Gombe has conducted its third matriculation ceremony for 450 students for the 2024/2025 Academic Session.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Pro-Chancellor of NEU, Dr Sani Jauro, said the university’s expansion of its programmes was driven by its commitment to providing high-quality education and developing the region’s human capital.

He stressed that the university has zero tolerance for rule violations, urging students to avoid behaviours that could tarnish the institution’s reputation or the efforts of their parents.
He also emphasised that those who violate the institution’s rules will face consequence, adding that nothing will prevent the management from enforcing discipline.
Dr Jauro further explained that the aim is to ensure that the students earn a degree in both character and learning.
“For instance, if a student does not have 70 per cent attendance in a course, they will not be allowed to sit for the examination, regardless of the circumstances. This policy will be strictly enforced in their results.

“Attend classes regularly and do not violate our rules. We assure parents that we will not let them down,” he explained.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of NEU, Professor Yusuph Yahaya, emphasised the institution’s respect for its students’ abilities and commitment to fostering an environment of confidence and decorum.
He said the NEU has zero tolerance for any form of indiscipline or vice, which he said will help our students become among the best in the world.
Also speaking, the Registrar, Hauwa Abubakar, revealed that NEU offers over 27 various degree programmes in sciences and social sciences.

She said these programmes provide students with a wide range of options to explore their interests.
She added that the university’s focus on academic excellence is evident in its recognition of outstanding students, with 256 students receiving awards for their impressive GPAs ranging from 4.85 to 5.00.
