Represented by Commander Armoured Corp, Bauchi, Major General, Mohammed Ahmed, he said the project was introduced to provide support to senior military officers from the ranks of Major General, to help them get back to their communities.
He added that the Gadam Water Scheme was carried out in honour of Major General Hassan Tafida, Director General of the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), who is an indigene of Gadam town.
According to him, the Army takes deliberate steps to ensure it gives back to the people, through their CSR, which helps in fostering relations between the Army and Nigerians.

Commissioning the borehole, Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, commended the gesture of the Army by providing succour to Nigerians, in addition to their constitutional responsibilities of defending the country.
Dr Jatau said the state government has attached priority to the health of the people, in which water played a prominent role in the provision of quality health, through the Gombe water scheme.
“The current expansion of the Gombe Water Scheme, that is a 70% – 30% partnership between the State and Federal Government is another move by the state to provide basic amenities to its residents.

“It is interesting therefore that the military, a core security organisation saw the need and importance to embark on CSR, whereas many civil organisations are yet to comprehend the essence of CSR,” Dr Jatau said.
Responding, Major General Tafida appreciated the gesture by the Chief of Army Staff, which he said had provided succour to the people of Gadam by mitigating the effect of perennial water problem in the community.
