The Kano State Hisbah Board has so far conducted mandatory medical screening on 720 of the 3,000 couples it registered for the planned mass wedding programme in the state.
The Board’s Deputy Commander General, Sheikh Mujahedeen Aminudeen, disclosed this in a telephone interview with The Punch while giving update on the screening exercise on Wednesday.
Recall that the medical screening commenced on Monday, 8th May 2026, with couples from 24 of the 44 local government areas of the state.
“The board has so far screened 720 couples from the 24 local government areas of the state,” the Deputy Commander General said .
The Hisba official directed couples from the Kano metropolitan area to visit the state headquarters of the Agency for the Control of AIDS at Na’ibawa area for the screening exercise.
He said the screening for the remaining local government areas will be conducted at a date to be announced later and directed the affected couples to await further announcement.
“The board will announce the date for the screening of couples from the remaining local government areas,” he said.
