The Kano State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has charged personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department to shun all forms of corruption and maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct.
According to a statement on Thursday by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, the CP Bakori gave the charge at a capacity-building lecture for officers and men of the Criminal Investigation Department on Wednesday.
“The Kano State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, today conducted a capacity-building lecture for officers and men of the Criminal Investigation Department, aimed at reinforcing discipline, professionalism, and public trust in police investigations and operations,” it said.
The commissioner also warned the CID officers to avoid illegal arrests and unlawful detention, ensuring that all actions are backed by law and respect for human rights.
“Remain compliant with the rule of law and established investigative procedures in all cases; exhibit conduct that enhances public trust and confidence in the Nigeria Police Force,” the CP was quoted as saying in the statement.
While reaffirming the command’s commitment to prioritizing welfare, insurance, and improved working conditions for officers, the CP urged CID personnel to reciprocate through renewed dedication, diligence, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
CP Bakori cautioned against unprofessional conduct, particularly the misuse of social media, noting that such behavior undermines public confidence and the integrity of the Command.
He also commended the Department for its role in investigating and prosecuting crime, and urged sustained synergy with other units to improve the Command’s overall crime-fighting capacity.
The session featured an interactive question-and-answer segment, allowing officers to raise concerns and receive direct guidance from the Command leadership.
The Kano State Police Command remains committed to professional, accountable, and people-centered policing in line with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
In his welcome address, the Head of the CID Department, DCP Shehu Idris, commended the CP Adamu Ibrahim Bakori for his sustained investment in personnel development and strategic direction.
