October 1 Planned Protest: Police Warn Organizers In Jigawa

Date:

The Jigawa Police Command has urged parents and guardians to strongly advised and warn their wards against participating in the planned Fearless October 1 protest.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam issued the warning in an interview with our reporter in Kano on Monday.

He said the command found it necessary to issue the warning even though it had yet to receive a letter or request from any individual or group seeking permission to hold demonstration or protest on October 1.

“Despite the fact that no letter or request has been received by the command from any individual or group wishing to hold a demonstration throughout the state on October 1, 2024.

“The Command felt it necessary to urge parents and guardians to strongly advise their kids against participating in the process,” he said.

He said policemen and other security agents have been deployed as well as necessary logistics to all nooks and crannies of the state particularly in the major cities to safeguard both public and private properties to avoid being looted or vandalized.

“Policemen and other security agents have been deployed aggressively and necessary logistics to all nooks and crannies of the state particularly in the major cities to safeguard both public and private properties such as warehouses, malls, super markets, parks, government installations and other critical infrastructures.

“This is necessary to avoid being vandalized or looted or disruption of public peace by criminally minded persons who may take advantage to infiltrate or hijack the process,” the PPRO said.

He disclosed that the command was also making great effort to locate the protest leaders and hold in-depth discussions with a view to embrace peace and dialogue as the command will not fold its arms and allow hoodlums and disgruntled elements to breach the existing peace in the state.
