The ancient city of Kano remained calm on Saturday as residents complied with the restriction of movement imposed on the State by the government during the local government election.
Our reporter who monitored the situation reports that as a result of the order human and vehicular movement have been restricted across the state.
“Even though police personnel did not participate in the election, the state remained peaceful as residents remained indoors in compliance with order.
It was observed that the state security outfits including personnel of the Kano Road Traffic Agency, Vigilante and Hisba Board were seen providing security across the various polling centers and units.
However, in some places like Sabon Gari area and Zaria road, residents of the areas defied the movement restriction order as they were seen going about with their normal activities.
Recall that the Kano State Police Command has said that it would comply with the Federal High Court order which restricted it from participation in the election.
