He said the Kano-Maiduguri road was a critical atannery for transporting people and agricultural produce from several northern states including Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states.
He recalled that the project was awarded by the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo-led administration but about 20 years now, successive administration have failed to complete the portion of the road.
“It is also recalled that in 2018, the Bihari-administration commitment to improving toad transportation led to the award of so many road contracts to restore the dilapidated roads in the country and among these roads was the renew contract of the dualization of the Kano-Maiduguri road.

“It is aware that a major transportation upgrade in under horizon, a brand new 2-lane highway would be built along with improvement of the existing road to tackle this project. It was divided into five manageable sections.
“The first section focuses on Kano-Wudil-Gaya-Shuwarin in Jigawa state, while the subsequent sections cover and connect Shurain-Azare-Patiskum-Damaturu-Maiduguri.
“Section one is the most expensive spanning roughly 202.7 klm and it involves construction of an up to standard brand new 2-lane express way. This new road begins from Kano and pass through Wudil, Gaya in Kano state and ended in Shuwarin in Jigawa state,” he said.
