Confirming the development to newsmen in Daura, The former governor of Lagos State said Shettima will now replace Alhaji Ibrahim Kabiru Masari.
Tinubu told newsmen at President Muhammadu Buhari’s residence in Daura that “though I did not inform Shetima, I have now told you that I have picked him as my running mate”
“Shettima is now replacing Kabiru Masari as my running mate. I am in Daura to inform President Muhammadu Buhari about my decision.”
It would be recalled that Kabiru Masari, a former welfare secretary of the APC when Adams Oshiomhole was the national chairman of the party, was picked as Tinubu’s running mate to meet the deadline for presenting running mate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Shettima, a serving senator, was a former governor of Borno state who governed the state for two terms before he moved to the red chamber as senator in 2019.
Senator Shettima is a close associate of the former Lagos state governor.
