Tinubu: One Good Turn…By Adamu S. Ladan

Date:

Few days to presidential/national elections I wrote under the headline ‘picking Nigeria’s president: a clear choice’. In that piece I did awakened the voters on the need for them to be discreet in the choices before them. The choices were then very clear. And the voters did a wise choice. A choice that came after fervent prayers and long nights vigils.

Let me salute those patriotic Nigerians who defied all odds to exercise their franchise. It was indeed another defining moment for the match to true democratic governance in Nigeria.

By defying all odds, to vote in peaceful manner, Nigerians have shamed their detractors who working alongside fifths columnists predicted doom for the country.

The naysayers scripted and acted their play but Nigerians watched and laughed yet refused to be hoodwinked.

Nigerians massively voted for peace, unity and tranquility with a renewed hope for prosperity.

Undoubtedly, another social contract between the APC and Nigerians to make our dear mother land greater country was renewed on 25th February, 2023 for the third time.

With this our hope for free, independent, egalitarian, qualitative and efficient nation is kept alive.

By their votes Nigerians have spoken that PDP had lost moral right to come back on stage. Hence, rejected the repackaged rotten mango.

Nigerians are clearly convinced that the PDP and their cotravellers lacked the moral right and political will to usher us into an equitable and prosperous nation.

Hence, they voted for light against darkness. They voted for the continuation of the infrastructural, and social transformation kicked started by the APC.

Our hope therefore for improvement on; roads, electricity, transportation, education, healthcare, water as well as economic and entrepreneurship so critical to development would continue unabated.

Their votes was a demonstration of confidence on the quality of the new leadership which represents morality charisma, transparency and above all decisiveness, as well as integrity savvy enough to manage diverse issues with the aim of enabling the country realize its true potentials.

It was very clear, weeks to elections the hawks were back with their old tactics; let’s make the country ungovernable for them, let’s frustrate their patriotic zeal. They celebrated our agony over their induced fuel scarcity , they celebrated our sufferings over currency scarcity, they pushed whatever sufferings that could to provoke our anger including waves of insecurity. All with a view to dampened our morale and commitments to change.

Indeed, Change has come to stay and would flourish in all our entire endeavour.

The north in particular has demonstrated its sophistry in the game they know, confirming their belief and love for the truth, justice, equity, and fairness even against itself. It has voted to ensure peace, unity and progress of our country.
Indeed we have chosen a path with a positive plan of restoring our hope for making reward and opportunity as our birth right and not an exclusive preserve of a few individuals.

Our votes have further strengthen our hope in the continued improvement of our lives through eradication of poverty, provision of basic necessities to every family and ensuring that the last man in society gets the first opportunity to rise in life.

The people also spoke against candidates whose main campaign promise are a threats to Nigeria’s farmers, producers, manufacturers and teeming employees who graciously enjoyed the dividends of the APC administration programmes and policies that supported local productions.

They rejected corruption, shamelessness and odious political gladiators responsible for high rates of unemployment, poor infrastructural development and resultant insecurity in the country.

What remains therefore is for the people to come out this weekend to massively vote for the APC in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections. Doing so will give the unflinching support the APC needed at the sub national government levels to continue with the courageous journey that seeks to reverse the dwindling fortune of the country brought about by the PDP’s sixteen years misrule.

The voters have however done their bids what remains is for Asiwaju/shetima to reciprocate the confidence reposed on them by being responsible, accountable and responsive to the needs of the people through inclusive, open and transparent governance.
It’s however said one good turn deserves another.
