A renown Zamfara terrorists’ kingpin, Turji has been captured by soldiers in Shinkafi local government area of Zamfara state.
Consequently, scores of Turji’s followers were reported killed during an offensive attack on their hideout by the Nigerian troops.
A reliable source confided in Daily Telescope that Turji, who has been terrorizing communities in Shinkafi, Birnin Magaji and Zurmi local government areas of the state, was apprehended on Friday in a village in Shinkafi local government area of the state.
The source explained that “The ring leader was captured while attempted to ran away from his hideout during a raid by soldiers. The man was said to have attempted to escape, but the braved soldiers captured him alive.
“For the past three days now, soldiers have been raiding hideouts of the terrorists in Zamfara state and parts of Katsina and Sokoto states. It is during airstrike that Turji’s hideout was hit and the man was captured alive while trying to desert the area.
“We learnt that scores of members of his gang have been killed, several injured and scores of others were captured unhurt. The Nigerian army is making headway in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the state.”
Daily Telescope gathered that Turji is one of the renown terrorists’ leaders that have been terrorizing communities in Zamfara state and parts of Jibia local government in Katsina state.
Speaking to Daily Telescope on phone, a resident of Shinkafi town, Aminu Muhammad said the successes being recorded by soldiers in the fight against terrorism in the recent time is commendable.
He said, “We are confident that if such offensive attacks will be sustained, many terrorists will be neutralized in the state within a short time. Many terrorists will be killed and several others will surrender themselves and their weapons to the government.
“This is what we expected the federal government to have done since, but we thanked God, our call has now been answered. We hope the soldiers will sustain this tempo till all the terrorists are either killed or surrender.”
