The Kano State Police Command has rescued a 15 year-old girl who was allegedly confined to a room for 10 years by her parents.
The Spokesman of the Police in Kano, DSP Abdullahi Haruna disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano, Today.
“On 19/04/2021 at about 1100hrs, a report was received from a good Samaritan that, one A’isha Jibrin, 15 of Darerawa Quarters Fagge LGA Kano, was solitarily confined for 10 years in a room by her biological parents one Mohammed Jibrin ‘m’ and Rabi Mohammed ‘f’ all of the same address, without proper feeding and health care.
“On receipt of the report, team of Policemen along with medical personnel immediately moved to the scene. Victim was rescued and taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for treatment, while the mother age 35 year old was arrested.
“Effort is on to arrest the father now at large while the case is under investigation,” Haruna said.
Haruna, said no fewer than 297 suspected criminals were also apprehended in continuation of efforts to rid the state of crimes
According to him, the arrests were nabbed between April 10 and May 23 – before, during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
Haruna also said different criminal hideouts and black spots were raided during the period.
The suspects included 187 suspected thugs, one suspected ATM fraudster and one suspected human trafficker.
Others are 80 suspected fraudsters, armed robbers, five suspected drug dealers, seven suspected livestock and phone thieves.
“Also in our custody are seven suspected kidnappers and a gun dealer, seven car thieves, cattle rustlers and two others caught with fake American dollars,” he said.
He said items recovered from the suspects included Screwdriver, masking tape, plastic ruler and pistol with the empty shell of .9mm ammunition.
Others were vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, mobile phones, illicit drugs such as cocaine, rubber solutions and suck and die.
Haruna said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
