Katsina traders loss N902m goods to fire-Committee

Traders of Fatima Baika market otherwise known as Katsina central market have lost over N902m worth of goods to the recent fire outbreak.

The Chairman of the implementation committee for the review of the white paper report, who doubled as the Attorney General, Alhaji Ahmad Usman El-Marzuk stated this after the third regular state executive council meeting.

The chairman also said over N152m were realized through donations from various states, organisations and individuals.

El-Marzuk explained that the Special Adviser to the state governor on Labour and Productivity, Alhaji Tanimu Lawal Saulawa has met with various labour leaders in the state and agreed to deduct 3 percent of all categories of civil servants’ salaries and 20 percent from the chief executives and political office holders’ salaries to assist the affected traders.

On his part, the Special Adviser to the governor on Market development, Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf and that of Human Development, Alhaji Lawal Aliyu Daura maintained that the market will be provided with fire fighting equipment to be fixed at strategic areas within the market.
