Katsina Gov’t declares Monday public holiday

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has declared tomorrow, Muharram 1, 1443, equivalent to August 9, 2021 as a Work Free Day in the state.

A statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Home Affairs and Culture, said the holiday is to commemorate Islamic New year Hijrah 1443 AH.

He said it is part of the of the gestures of Governor Masari, to remind Muslims in the state about the Islamic Calendar and a sign of respect to Hijrah as a Milestone in all Muslims life.

He enjoyed people to use the period to reflect and live their lives according to the teaching of Islam and practice of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“The governor also urge all Muslims and other religions to use the holiday to pray to the Almighty Allah for peace, unity, progress and above all, the challenges of insecurity bedeviling the state and the country as a whole,” Sirika said in a statement.
