The Kano State High Court has issued a restraining order against the Incorporated Trustees of the National Council for Women Society (NCWS), and six other defendants.
The order prevented them from organizing or conducting an election for executive members of the Council until the hearing and determination of a motion on notice.
The presiding judge, Justice Aisha Ya’u, granted the interim injunction after considering a motion ex-parte presented by Barrister B.I Usman, counsel to the applicants.
The motion, dated 30th October 2023, included an accompanying affidavit sworn by the applicants themselves.
According to the order, the defendants, their agents, privies, or anyone claiming to act on their behalf are prohibited from taking any further steps in organizing or conducting the election until the hearing of the motion on notice.
The case has been adjourned until 7th November 2023 to allow for a proper hearing.
The applicants in the case include Kubura Adamu, Hauwa Mohammed Magashi, Fatima Mohammed, Binta Adamu, and others.
On the other hand, the respondents are the Incorporated Trustees of NCWS, Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau, Hajiya Hadiza Abdullahi Kishimi, Maimuna Garba, and others.
